Imperial Brands Chief Financial Officer Murray McGowan formally opened the market at the London Stock Exchange (LSE) today, in a ceremony commemorating the 125th anniversary of the business and the 30th anniversary of its London listing.
Murray was joined by an LSE delegation led by LSE Chief Executive Dame Julia Hoggett, and other Imperial Brands Executive Leadership Team members.
Also in attendance was a group of long-serving colleagues who all began their career at Imperial in the 1990s.
The ceremony provided an important opportunity to celebrate the company’s rich heritage and challenger approach to delivering sustainable value.
Imperial was founded in the UK and 1901 and was relisted on the LSE in 1996 after a decade under the ownership of the Hanson conglomerate.
Speaking at the event, Murray said: “Together, these anniversaries help shape the story of a company that has continued to evolve, grow and create value over more than a century.
“Looking back over our history, one lesson stands out: long-term success comes from adapting to change while staying focused on what you do best,” he added.
“As our industry continues to evolve, our strategy to 2030 is focused on building on that track record: driving sustainable value from our combustible business, growing our smokeless portfolio, and creating a simpler, more agile and more consumer-focused organisation.”
